Our Elders
Jan Nieuwenhuys
Jan joined PBC in 1998 as an adherent. He was involved in men’s ministries and fellowships. In February 2008 Jan and his wife were baptized and accepted into full membership of PBC.
Jan was elected as a Deacon in August 2009 and continued serving on men’s ministries. He lost his wife to cancer in early 2014 and remarried in 2015.
In 2016 Jan was voted in as elder to serve alongside Bill Booyse. Jan and his wife Carola continue to serve our Lord Jesus at PBC and are blessed and privileged to serve alongside elders Ben and Bruce and Pastor Jonathan and their wives.
Bruce Austen
Bruce came to know the Lord about 40 years ago when he was invited to a church service at Rhema Bible Church in Randburg to hear his friend singing in the worship team. It was the first time he had ever heard the Gospel and realised that if he died while living the lifestyle of the proverbial “wine, women and song” variety, he certainly was not going to a happy “here after”. About two weeks later he was born again, and his life was turned upside down. As he had no Christian upbringing, he realised the need to gain spiritual knowledge and so he embarked on a quest to become spiritually mature and moving on beyond the mere “milk of the Word” . He was privileged to be able to study through BTC in Parktown by correspondence and attending certain lectures there. After completing the Diploma in Theology, he continued studying via UNISA where he completed both the BTH & BTH (Hons) degrees. This enabled him to be able to serve the Lord in various ministries in various churches and in 2022, he and his wife found a new spiritual home at PBC. The Lord has amazingly opened many doors for him and he feels more active at this stage of his life than he has ever been before, serving as an elder, teacher, musician and worship leader. All through this amazing and rewarding journey of his life, Lynne, his beautiful wife of 39 years (and counting) has been a constant source of support and encouragement for him and for this he is eternally grateful to our most awesome Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Soli Deo Gloria!!🙏
